Baskerville Residence
Designed for a couple who have owned and lived in this vineyard property in Baskerville for many years, in the heart of the Swan Valley, as a replacement for their mid-century house.
Located behind the original house and nestled deeper into the heart of the 10ha property, the chosen site provided a blank canvas for a new house focused on family spaces and views to the north and the beautiful landscape surrounds.
Focused around a large kitchen living dining area, the east-west axially aligned cruciform shape opens out to a large open courtyard with generous vine covered pergola, reminiscent of the classic mediterranean outdoor dining spaces. Outdoor cooking zone complete with pizza oven provides a complementary Italian flavour to the spaces.
Bedrooms and utility spaces at the western end are aligned as the north-south axis of the cruciform shape. Conceived as a tilt-up concrete structure, preferred by the owner as it utilises their existing construction company’s skills and assets, enabled for voluminous spaces to be created within an affordable and rapid time frame.
