Bedbrook place, Shenton park

2015
The project supported the approval and delivery of a sterile pharmaceutical manufacturing facility on a previously undeveloped site characterised by native vegetation and a slope of approximately 9 metres. The design carefully retained significant trees and minimised earthworks, with the building positioned toward the southern and eastern portions of the site to enable efficient vehicle access from Bedbrook Place. Retained Jarrah trees were integrated into a landscaped entrance forecourt, resulting in a development that responded sensitively to the site’s natural features while maintaining functional access and circulation.
The completed facility successfully combined a high-performance manufacturing environment with a distinct office component. The rear manufacturing area accommodated specialised cleanroom spaces within a thermally efficient, insulated envelope, while the two-storey office provided flexible staff and administrative areas with a clear architectural identity. Variations in materials, colours, and façade treatments reduced the perceived bulk of the building, and the defined entrance canopy created a strong, functional focal point with effective solar shading. Overall, the project achieved a balanced outcome, meeting operational requirements while preserving key environmental features and presenting a refined, cohesive built form.
