As part of a submission to Karma Resort for the Rottnest Lodge expansion, the site masterplan include chalet style accommodation for 160 beds with associated resort facilities, arranged around the highly Environmental and Heritage sensitive Garden Lake. Each building has been conceived as a prefabricated building concept, single modules for the chalets and multiple modules for the remaining buildings. The con-cepts required careful resolution to satisfy the stringent controls imposed by the Rottnest Island Authority as well as the logistics of barging pre-fab units to the island and then forklifting them to the site. The off-site fabrication process allows for massive savings in time and cost.
