St Marys Church, west perth
Year
2026
This project was born out of a need to attend to a persistent roof leak, that over the years and many attempts to repair had resulted in some significant building damage. The parish decided this should be used as an opportunity to attend to some other essential upgrades at the same time.
The church itself, built in 1980 in a post-modern style, replaced the original St Mary’s gothic revival brick church which stood more prominently on the large open site. 20 years later the other buildings on the site were demolished to make way for the 5 storey office building and subterranean carpark that occupies the remainder of the site, and the church was extended with a 2 storey hall with kitchen, meeting rooms and offices.
The project entails alterations and additions to the existing church and lobby, for improved amenity throughout, including new air conditioning, and a complete repaint of the building.
Construction commenced in Feb 2026, with completion expected in late July 2026.
