The restoration of failing 2 storey verandahs on this Federation Free Classical style building, a vital part of the heritage listed Swanleigh Precinct in Middle Swan, was successfully undertaken by the Anglican Diocese and their team of architect, engineer, historian and builder. With careful attention to detail at every step of the overall process, the team successfully managed a project through the difficulties imposed by COVID, obtaining heritage grant funding along the way, with the result being an attractive and inviting two storey verandah structure that looks like it has always been there. More importantly, the restored structures have been re-built to be more robust than the original, with materials and systems employed to ensure they are there for the next 100yrs and more. The project has delivered a far more useable and inviting entrance and arrival experience to the Swan Valley Adventure Centre than what was there before. This vastly improved asset to the business in turn provides the all-important economic benefit to enable ongoing use and maintenance of this important gateway to the Swanleigh Precinct.
